The BYD Sealion 7 is a mid-size electric SUV introduced by Chinese automaker BYD in 2024, aiming to compete directly with models like the Tesla Model Y. Built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 Evo, the Sealion 7 offers a blend of performance, efficiency, and modern design.
Design and Dimensions
Drawing inspiration from the BYD Seal sedan, the Sealion 7 features a sleek and aerodynamic profile with a coupe-style silhouette. Its exterior showcases distinctive design elements, including C-shaped LED headlights, a prominent front air intake, continuous LED taillights, and a pronounced rear diffuser. The vehicle measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,620 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm, providing ample interior space for passengers.
Performance and Powertrain
The Sealion 7 is available in two variants: Premium and Performance.

Premium RWD: Equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor delivering 230 kW (308 hp) and 380 Nm of torque, this variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.

Performance AWD: This all-wheel-drive model features dual electric motors producing a combined output of 390 kW (523 hp) and 690 Nm of torque, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
Both variants are powered by an 82.56 kWh BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The Premium version offers a range of up to 567 km, while the Performance variant provides up to 542 km on a single charge.
Interior and Features
Inside, the Sealion 7 boasts a modern and spacious cabin. Key interior features include a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD), and Nappa leather seats. The vehicle also offers advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) through BYD’s DiPilot 100 “God’s Eye,” incorporating 12 ultrasonic sensors, five millimeter-wave radars, and 11 cameras to provide Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities.
Global Availability
Since its initial launch in China, the BYD Sealion 7 has expanded to various international markets, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, and Indonesia. In Indonesia, the Sealion 7 was introduced at the 32nd Indonesia International Motor Show on February 13, 2025, with prices starting from Rp 629 million.
